Mō te tūranga | About the Role
You will be providing daily support for William at his home in Somerfield. William has lived independently in his local community for many years. However, due to early onset dementia, he now requires full-time assistance and is being supported by Hōhepa.
William enjoys spending time outdoors whether it be visiting the local park to play some basketball or enjoying a coffee at a local café. At home, he loves music (Rock and Roll!) and helping out around the house, especially with cooking and meal preparation.
We are looking for an additional team member to join our team of five, who can create a caring, reliable, and reassuring environment for William, helping to minimise his confusion and distress.
You will be committed to building a trusting relationship with William and providing calm reassurance when he is disoriented. You should have proven ability to work collaboratively in a small team to provide consistent support that adapts to William's changing needs as his condition progresses.
You will be energetic, empathetic, and able to work alongside William, focusing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem-solve, and apply boundaries or offer space as needed.
Daily tasks include supporting William with personal care, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You should be passionate about helping people access and be part of their wider community. If you are looking for a new challenge, this could be the opportunity for you.
This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.50 and $28.25 per hour.

- Wednesday to Saturday 7am to 3pm

Your aroha and approach is what really matters at Hōhepa – previous experience is not a prerequisite because we provide on-the-job training.
