Nurse Practitioner - Central Hawkes Bay

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora
New Zealand
Full time

Location: Central Hawkes Bay Health Centre

Service/ Department: Rural Health

Contract: Permanent, Part-time (FTE negotiable)

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is dedicated to serving all New Zealanders. Through integration and collaboration, we’re building a health system underpinned by partnership, equity, sustainability, whānau-centred care, and excellence.

About the Role:

We are excited to be seeking two Nurse Practitioners for our small Central Hawkes Bay Rural Health Centre in Te Matau a Māui.

Located around 50km from the Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital in Hastings, the Central Hawkes Bay Health Centre provides health care to the community with six inpatient beds, outpatient department and community teams. There is a well embedded integrated model of care on site including visiting services. You will also at times be required to work alongside the wider Older Persons teams and palliative care team in our Hasting Hospital and other community sites.

This innovative new role will suit a practitioner who has experience in general adult medicine, embracing the health of older people and has a special interest in palliative care. The focus will be primarily on daily review and clinical management of the inpatient ward and Medical Day Unit to ensure and provide safe, timely, effective care and treatment for patients closer to home. You will also have opportunity to run your own clinics working alongside geriatricians, older persons health and medical care teams and the community palliative care team.

There are large pockets of need in the community, so your understanding of the healthcare and cultural needs of Māori and Pacific people and the ability to put this at the centre of all you do, is vital to this role.
Our team is a close-knit, enthusiastic group of healthcare professionals who are committed to providing the best care for our community. We believe in collaboration, continuous learning, and supporting each other like family. We're looking for Nurse Practitioners who share our values and are excited to join our journey in making a difference in the lives of our patients.
Get in touch for a kōrero with Susan Hawken, Nurse Manager, Central Hawke’s Bay Health Centre, on 027 260 7730.
