About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced NZ Payroll Operations Manager to lead our New Zealand Payroll Operations team. This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing payroll, payroll finance, and compliance functions, ensuring legislative and contractual compliance, and delivering efficient, accurate payroll services across Fletcher Building’s New Zealand business units.
Reporting into the Head of Australasian Payroll and Credit Management/Debt Recovery, you will play a key role in delivering our NZ Payroll Operating Model, with a strong focus on technology, compliance, and continuous improvement. You will be a competent and experienced people leader of large, diverse teams. Additionally, you will support strategic initiatives and lead optimisation projects that enhance payroll systems, control environments, and processes.
In this role, you’ll:
- Lead a team of ~23 across NZ, with the support of 3 Divisional Leads;
- Drive payroll compliance, system optimisation, and service delivery;
- Collaborate with Payroll Systems, Payroll Project teams, HRIS, Finance, and Business Units; and
- Shape the future of payroll through innovative leadership.
What you will bring
We would like to hear from you if you possess:
- 8+ years of payroll leadership experience across complex corporate environments;
- Proven ability to manage stakeholder relationships;
- Strong process design and optimisation skills;
- Payroll and time and attendance experience (e.g., Chris21, Workforce Software);
- High-level analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; and
- A customer-focused mindset and a drive for continuous improvement.
