About the Role

Salary: $94,394- $107,600 (pro rata)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced NZ Registered Occupational Therapist to join the Older Persons Mental Health Team (Psychogeriatric Service), working in the Hutt Valley. This is a 0.85 full time equivalent role (68 hours per fortnight) and involves seeing clients primarily in the community.

We are looking for someone who is confident in their role and able to take on tasks as a key worker, has excellent assessment and communication skills, is a great team player and has an ability to work independently.

This is a permanent part time role working four days one week and four and a half days the next. It involves seeing clients in the community and occasionally on the inpatient ward.

About the Team/Service

Our multidisciplinary team is part of the Older Persons and Rehabilitation Service at Hutt Hospital and provides assessment and treatment to clients over the age of 65 with dementia with BPSD and/or functional mental health issues. If you are passionate about your work and have knowledge of complex elderly and community work then we are keen to hear from you.

We can offer you a friendly, supportive team environment, regular supervision and in-service training as well as the opportunity to be involved in service development projects.

About you

You will have experience of working with complex clients in a community setting. You will be a strong team player and able to work independently. Ideally you will have postgraduate study and/or experience in Mental Health and in using a case management, interdisciplinary model. You will have exceptional clinical reasoning and a demonstrated ability to manage and share risk. You will have strong communication and relationship management skills.

Whilst knowledge of functional mental illness, dementia and case management is helpful and preferred, the right candidate will be supported to develop their skills.
