Ngāi Tahu Tourism is looking for a passionate and experienced Operations Manager to join the team at Hukafalls Jet - a world-renowned attraction delivering thrilling jet boat rides to the base of the spectacular Huka Falls.

About the Role
As Operations Manager, you'll work alongside the Business Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of Hukafalls Jet. You'll oversee jet boat operations, supervise and support the wider team, and ensure the delivery of exceptional customer experiences. You'll also serve as a back-up Jet Boat Driver when required.
This role is hands-on and diverse, covering everything from health and safety, team development, and customer service to system management, sustainability, and cultural leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead jet boat operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and engaging commentary
- Support and coach kaimahi through regular performance discussions and development plans
- Champion Ngāi Tahu values and foster a high-performing, culturally confident team
- Oversee booking systems (IBIS), financial reconciliations, and vendor management
- Manage social media content in collaboration with the Social Media Manager
- Drive sustainability initiatives and promote the Tiaki Promise
- Lead recruitment, induction, and training, including "Train the Trainer" programmes
- Ensure excellence in customer service, retail presentation, and upselling
- Maintain high standards in health and safety, hazard management, and reporting
What We're Looking For
- 4+ years' experience managing a team in a dynamic environment
- Experience in training, coaching, and performance management
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel and Word
- Core accounting knowledge and familiarity with booking systems
- Qualified Jet Boat Driver (or willing to become one)
- Full driver's licence
- Background in tourism, travel, hospitality, or retail preferred
- A commitment to Ngāi Tahu values and eagerness to grow in te reo Māori and tikanga
