We are currently looking for a Pastry Chef, Full-Time (40-Hours Per Week), who is hands on and has a keen eye for detail to help us deliver the best Guest Experience! We welcome you to join us in the front row at SO/ Auckland and become a part of Accor's lifestyle brand collective Ennismore!
Job Description
The Role:
- Organising and managing the pastry section to ensure smooth, efficient service.
- Preparing and cooking all pastry items with precision and urgency.
- Ensuring all products meet established recipes, presentation, and quality standards.
- Demonstrating creativity and contributing to the development of innovative pastry recipes.
- Monitoring daily pastry kitchen requirements and advising the Executive Sous Chef or supervisor in advance.
- Maintaining strict food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards across all work areas and equipment.
- Catering for conferences and events, including the preparation of items that meet a wide range of dietary requirements.
- Ensuring proper storage and handling of all ingredients in line with current food safety regulations.
- Supporting and coordinating with the broader kitchen team to meet service demands.
- Assisting senior kitchen leadership and stepping into supervisory duties when required.
- Promoting flexibility and collaboration by being familiar with other kitchen sections.
Qualifications
The Person:
- Minimum two (2) years commercial cookery and pastry experience in a similar role, preferably including 5 star experience.
- Holds a Level 5 Diploma in Professional Cookery.
- Has the aptitude and willingness to undertake further development with SO/ and Ennismore.
- Physically fit and able to stand for the duration of a shift (8 hours).
- Organise time and work efficiently.
- Willingness to work weekends and public holidays due to the business needs
- Projects professional image at all times through personal presentation / interpersonal skills. Effective numeracy, verbal and written communication skills.
- Desire and ability to train and develop staff.
- Appreciates and maintains an effective outlet for stress.
- Initiates contacts and establishes rapport easily.
