We are seeking a detail-focused and proactive finance professional to join our Finance Shared Services team as a Payables Specialist. This important role sits within the Strategy, Finance and Policy Group and supports K inga Ora's ability to meet its financial obligations in a timely, efficient, and compliant manner.
This isn't your standard payables position. As a Payables Specialist, you'll be at the heart of our financial operations, working in a mid-office capacity to deliver high-value outcomes. You'll manage complex payment activities, including utilities (power, land and water rates), FX invoices, and property settlements, while working closely with stakeholders to deliver smart business outcomes.
You'll,
- Deliver timely and accurate payment processing across a wide range of activities.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues impacting payment workflows.
- Collaborate with Treasury, Purchase to Pay, ICT, and other internal teams to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide insights and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to training and uplift of technical skills within the team.

Ng pumanawatanga ou - What you will bring
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A Diploma in Accounting, Business, or equivalent experience
- 1-2 years' experience in a Payables function or strong SME-level knowledge
- Proven ability to work with high transaction volumes in a shared services environment
- Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of accounts payable workflows and ERP systems, ideally Oracle
- A knack for problem-solving and identifying process enhancements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills-you'll be engaging with customers, internal teams, and stakeholders daily
- A detail-oriented and disciplined approach to financial accuracy and reconciliation
- Experience with FX processing, tax payments, utility transactions, and purchase cards is desirable
- A collaborative spirit and a passion for continuous improvement
- A customer-first mindset with the ability to translate technical issues into actionable solutions.
