Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
As Principal Enterprise Architect, you will lead the strategic direction and governance of Enterprise Architecture across the University of Canterbury. This senior digital leadership role influences executive stakeholders and partners, facilitates collaboration across diverse teams, and ensures the alignment of digital services with UC's strategic goals.
You will own UC's Enterprise Architecture practice, including frameworks, artefacts, repositories, and governance. You will lead and enable the Architecture Team, as well as influence multiple technical leaders, to deliver effective and efficient Architecture services. Your clear guidance and strategic insight will shape technology decisions and drive value across the University.
Mōu | Who You Are
You are a seasoned digital leader with:
- A minimum of 15 years in the IT/Digital industry, including 5+ years in senior architecture roles.
- Proven experience implementing and applying Enterprise Architecture frameworks and leading diverse architecture teams.
- Demonstrated success in delivering significant technology platforms across complex organisations.
- Experience in the Higher Education sector is highly desirable.
- A Bachelor's degree in IT (NZQA Level 7) is required; qualifications in Enterprise Architecture or an MBA are desirable.
- TOGAF certification is a plus.

Mahi Ngātahi | Who You Will Work With
You will report to the Chief Digital & Technology Officer and be responsible for a team of 2-3 direct reports, plus a contractor team. You'll collaborate with senior leaders, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver strategic architecture outcomes.
