Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to conduct testing and inspections during the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications. Each day, you will execute assigned work according to agreed workflows and in accordance with ABB standard processes and safety guidelines, reporting any non-compliance. You will also showcase your expertise by performing tests and checks following procedures and instructions defined in manuals and test scripts.
The work model for the role is: #LI-onsite.
This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power Division in Napier, NZ.
Main stakeholders are Engineering and Production teams, Quality Assurance, Product Management team, and local unit Operations Manager.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Executing assigned work according to agreed workflows and in accordance with ABB standard processes and safety guidelines, reporting any non-compliance.
Performing physical pre-testing activities for newly developed products to ensure product quality and validate manufacturing processes.
Assisting the team in performing all required checks as part of the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) process.
Testing products and systems and validating materials to ensure these follow prescribed technical specifications.
Inspecting and troubleshooting any identified issues, determining root causes, and implementing corrective actions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Maintaining accurate testing records, data, and documentation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and quality management systems.
Participating in quality improvement initiatives, providing feedback and suggestions to enhance manufacturing processes and product quality.
Developing, implementing, and improving relevant policies and procedures to improve testing effectiveness across the Testing function

This position reports to the Production Test Team Leader.
Qualifications for the role
Electrical Engineering or related degree, or minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in testing or manufacturing environments.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and detailed electrical schematics with precision and accuracy.
Knowledge in MS Office, basic networking, and Linux command line highly preferred for data management and system interaction.
Exceptional attention to detail and precision, with innovative approaches to problem-solving and quality assurance challenges.
Demonstrated skills in testing methodologies, quality control processes, and compliance with safety standards.
Strong capability to work independently while maintaining effective collaboration as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills for presenting testing results and quality recommendations to engineering teams and management in English.
Physical fitness to perform hands-on testing activities, equipment handling, and factory floor work as required.
Current NZ residency and the right to work in NZ.
