Restaurant Manager
Mission Bay Café & Restaurant has been operating in the hub of Mission Bay for over 20 years. We specialize as a cafe and eatery, and are open 7 days a week, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Our team work hard to provide an innovative menu that uses fresh New Zealand produce. As the restaurant manager, you will play a key role in the smooth operation of our dining establishment.
You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the restaurant's daily functions, including staff management, customer service, financial performance, and maintaining high standards in food quality and hygiene. The role is ideal for an organized, dynamic, and hospitality-focused individual with a passion for creating exceptional dining experiences within our trading hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management
· Oversee daily restaurant operations, ensuring efficiency and a great customer experience.
· Manage inventory and supplier orders to avoid shortages and minimize waste.
· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and council regulations.
· Implement systems and policies to improve workflow and profitability.
Staff Leadership
· Recruit, train, and supervise staff, including kitchen team.
· Manage rosters and labour costs effectively.
· Maintain a positive team culture and run regular staff briefings.
Customer Service
· Ensure high-quality service and handle customer feedback or complaints.
· Build rapport with regulars and the local Mission Bay community.
· Drive initiatives to enhance the dining experience and menu offerings.
Financial Oversight
· Manage budgeting, cost control, and seasonal forecasting.
· Track sales performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
Marketing & Promotion
· Plan and execute social media and local marketing campaigns.
· Organize events, promotions, and seasonal offerings to grow the customer base.
Skills and Experiences:
· Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities to manage staff and handle customers.
· Exceptional organizational and multitasking capabilities to oversee various aspects of operations. Knowledge of health and safety regulations within the food service industry.
· Proficiency in budget management and financial oversight.
· A relevant diploma (or higher) qualification in hospitality or business management etc. AND
· Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Managerial or Supervisory role within the restaurant or hospitality industry.
· Current Managers Certificate and liquor License is a must requirement.
· Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and other restaurant technology.
Work Environment
The role of a Restaurant Manager involves working in a fast-paced environment that requires physical stamina and mental agility. The manager may spend long hours on their feet, supervising staff and monitoring operations, especially during peak business hours. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays is required as we are open 7 days a week from 7am – 10pm.

Number of positions available: 2
Employment type: Full Time – minimum 5 Days a week. You will be part of 7 days rostered shift so you must be available to work between 7 AM – midnight, Monday to Sunday.
Hours per week: Min 30 hours to Maximum 45 hours per week.
Hourly rate: $30 - $35 per hour dependent on experience.
