We are actively seeking a Retail Business Manager to lead and support a team of Retail Operations Managers with managing our network stores within the South Island and Wellington region. This is a crucial position, reporting to the Retail Operations Manager – Consumer, that will see you managing 3 Regional Operations Managers, each with their own stores, across the Southern region. You will be accountable for driving financial success, including achieving budgeted sales, profit, and unit targets, while fostering a high-performance and safe operational culture across all consumer stores within the South Island and Wellington region. We are open to the successful candidate being based out of Palmerston North, Wellington or Christchurch.
Responsibilities will also include:
- Compliance and Safety: Establish a culture of "best practice" safety and compliance, ensuring all employees adhere to regulations, policies and safe practices within the business
- Leadership: Actively lead and coach store management teams to achieve business goals and targets, utilising their people and identifying internal talent
- Operations: Drive operational efficiency and profitability by overseeing sales, planning strategic initiatives and developing the sales and operations team both technically and operationally
- Sales and Profitability: Report on sales performance, empower staff to exceed sales and profit targets and provide leadership and coaching to Retail Area Managers where needed
- Staff Development and Training: Drive business success by fostering a culture of learning and development for senior management and direct reports, while also taking accountability for sales results and actively contributing to discussions and meetings
To be successful you will need:
- Proven sales management and leadership experience within an organisation operating across multiple branches or sites
- Extensive experience in the retail or service sector, with proven knowledge of the tyre industry
- Significant leadership experience, including the ability to effectively coach and motivate senior teams
- Strong commercial awareness and business acumen
