Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora
Auckland, Auckland
Full time

  • Full-time (12-month fixed term) | Based in Metro Auckland
  • Join the frontline of digital innovation in healthcare
  • Help automate high-impact processes that free up staff time and improve care delivery
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and committed to building a smarter, more sustainable health system that works for all New Zealanders.

About the Role

We are looking for two passionate and technically skilled RPA Developers to help scale automation solutions across the Northern Region as part of our Financial Sustainability Programme (FSP) and beyond.

Working as part of a regionally aligned team, you’ll build and deploy automation solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform — primarily Power Automate for RPA, with Power Apps to support form-based interfaces and AI Builder where intelligent automation is required. You may also interface with Power BI to support workflow triggers or integrate visual insights into automation pipelines.

You’ll be based at either Waitematā or Counties Manukau, with responsibilities that span all four Northern Region districts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and deploy RPA bots for prioritised workflows using Microsoft Power Platform tools.
  • Collaborate with district FSP leads, Process Owners, Subject Matter Experts, BI analysts, and frontline teams to identify opportunities and support implementation.
  • Translate business requirements into automation flows and low-code logic.Maintain, monitor, and enhance existing automations to ensure accuracy and performance.
  • Contribute to a growing bot library with reusable objects, flows and technical artefacts.

About You

You’re a technically confident and improvement-focused developer who thrives in fast-moving environments and wants to make a difference. You bring a customer-first, delivery-oriented mindset, and enjoy working closely with stakeholders to co-design simple, scalable solutions that solve real problems.

You are comfortable with agile ways of working, including early release, continuous testing, and learning through iteration. You prioritise value over perfection and understand that progress is a product of learning fast and adapting quickly.

You will bring:

  • Minimum: Experience with Microsoft Power Automate and Power Apps.
  • 2+ years’ experience in RPA development.
  • Ability to use and integrate with APIs to connect systems and automate workflows.
  • A track record of working directly with users to test, refine, and improve digital solutions.
  • Strong understanding of business process logic, data flow, and exception handling.
  • Experience working across clinical, operational, and digital environments.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and partnership under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with Azure AI, OpenAI, or AI Builder for intelligent process automation, Blue Prism for robotic process automation.
  • Desirable: Understanding of healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7, FHIR, or related clinical messaging protocols.
  • Desirable: Experience with Power Apps, including designing responsive forms and apps that integrate with automated workflows.
  • Scripting or coding experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell, VBA) is a plus.

If shortlisted, we’ll ask you to provide examples of your previous work so we can better understand your skills and approach. This could include:

  • A link to your GitHub or other code repository.
  • A short video demonstrating an automation you have recently built.
  • A Blue Prism release package or a Power Automate flow export file.
  • Screenshots or diagrams showing process design and logic.
  • Please redact or anonymise any sensitive or confidential information before submission.
