Job Description
Energise your career
If you like the idea of working on projects that make a fundamental difference to the lives of people in your community, consider a role at Vector.
So much of what we take for granted in our everyday lives is enabled by the work that Vector is doing to ensure our infrastructure is fit for purpose for a rapidly changing future.
Across our network we are transforming the way that Auckland's critical infrastructure is delivered through high-tech data-led solutions and customer first thinking. It's a dynamic, energising place to work because what you do here matters to everyone.
About the role
Auckland is experiencing significant growth, and this is true of our electricity network too. At a time of transport electrification and network resilience in the face of increasing adverse weather events, the long- and short-term planning of our network has never been more challenging. At the same time, this presents an exciting opportunity in this role.
You’ll be responsible for undertaking technical assessments relating to customer connections and issues, network constraints and power quality violations. You will need to apply engineering best practice to provide solutions that increase network capacity and maintain network security to meet customers’ needs for a high quality, reliable and resilient power supply at an effective cost. You’ll do this through pioneering ideas and technology, utilising digital platforms and non-wired alternatives.
In these roles, you’ll enjoy the sort of satisfaction that comes with knowing you’re playing an integral part in Vector achieving our Symphony Strategy, keeping the lights on and homes warm across Auckland whilst driving a sustainable new energy future.
Who we are looking for
We envisage you’ll have the following experience and attributes:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in a related field, with experience in electrical engineering
- You’ll be knowledgeable about traditional power system network architecture and equipment, and emerging technologies and their application to deliver solutions
- You’ll be experienced in power system analysis, design and planning, and in using power system simulation software eg PowerFactory, PSSE
- You’ll be adept at deriving insights and interpreting large data sets
- You’ll have a track record of mentoring and coaching other team members
- You’ll collaborate with other teams effectively, building and maintaining relationships across departments and organisations with a diverse audience of stakeholders
- You’ll be an effective communicator, adapting your style to different audiences.
