He angitutanga | About the role
The purpose of this role is to successfully lead and coordinate DOC's regional contributions to Predator Free projects, with a focus on Predator Free Rakiura / Stewart Island. We are seeking a dynamic project leader to ensure the ongoing development and implementation of our vision for the PF2050 programme is realised.
This multifaceted role involves project management, outcome monitoring and internal and external stakeholder engagement, all aimed at advancing the PF2050 National Strategy. This strategy is crucial for guiding the Department of Conservation (DOC) toward the long-term goals, ensuring alignment with governmental priorities, and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include driving project coordination and tasks set out in work plans, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, oversight of all activity, permissions and advice, identifying critical risks and ensuring they are addressed to ensure timely and effective delivery.

A proven track record in project management is essential, as you will oversee national implementation plans, monitor budgets, and assess risks. Alongside this we are seeking:
- Experience as a project manager in a complex and changing environment, translating context into practical implementation;
- Experience in leading, encouraging and organising others in a multi-faceted project environment;
- Proven ability in developing relationships, communicating and liaising with senior managers, partners, internal and external partners/stakeholders;
- Strong understanding of Te Ao Maori, and experience engaging and working directly with whanau, hapu and iwi;
- Skilled in compiling financial budgets and monitoring of performance against them;
- Ability to lead and embed strategic and innovative thinking. and engage others to implement;
- An understanding and knowledge of conservation management work;
- Outstanding interpersonal and presentation skills;
- Strong written and negotiation skills;
- Proficient user of MS Office tools and MS Project;
- Current full driving licence.

The salary range for this position is $92,450 to $116,985 per annum, with the starting salary of the successful applicant based on their relevant skills and experience.
