Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
The purpose of this role is to work alongside others to define the best practices of your craft, whilst working with teams to improve the reliability and observability of our systems, and also improving development and delivery pipelines across Waka Kotahi's complex technology estate.
You will be working alongside Software Developers, Business Analysts, Product Owners, Technology Leadership, Business Owners, QA Engineers, Vendors and Suppliers. You should be able to select best solutions in cloud environments based on best practices.
We are looking for someone with someone who has excellent analytical ability and is a logical problem solver with clear communication skills. System integration and Mulesoft, kubernites and Data streaming platforms experience preferred.

We are seeking to appoint at a salary between $131,659 and $174,545 of band commensurate to skills and experience.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The ability to understand on how solutions are architected and integrated internally and with external third-party software.
- Significant understanding of CI/CD
- Significant experience creating pipelines in a CI/CD platform (e.g. GitHub , ADO)
- Significant experience in managing job artefacts
- Significant experience in writing automated integration tests
- Significant experience in running large systems and infrastructure
- Significant experience with Monitoring platforms (e.g. Azure Cloud Monitor, GCP Cloud Monitoring)
- Significant experience with Logging systems based on the ELK stack
- Significant experience in a programming language (e.g. Java, JavaScript, Python)
- Significant experience in Alerting systems (e.g. Opsgenie, PagerDuty)
- Significant experience in IaC tools (e.g. Terraform)
- Significant experience in working with SLO's SLI and SLA's
- Significant experience in working with at least one of the major cloud providers, Azure preferred
- Significant experience working with Site Reliability Engineering concepts
- Tertiary level qualification in relevant subject or equivalent experience
You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public service.
