Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The Student Care team provides support services and specifically a holistic psychosocial assessment followed by brief intervention. This may include; study related wellbeing advice, outreach and crisis intervention support for UC's ākonga (students). The Senior Student Care Advisor is integral in developing and supporting these services by facilitating and optimising personal, social and academic experiences for our ākonga. The role is as challenging as it is interesting within a dynamic service environment orientated to exceptional wellbeing and support services.
Mōu | Who You Are
Reporting to the Student Care Manager this role requires expertise in the areas of Social Work, counselling and or mental health, to provide pastoral care and wellbeing education.
To be successful in this role, you will have 3-4 years of relevant work experience and:
- a professional social work, health or education qualification/degree
- a working knowledge and understanding of mental health issues
- comprehensive psychosocial assessment skills and underpinning best practice models
- extensive pastoral care experience in the community/or student mental wellbeing services
- knowledge of brief intervention models and an integrated practice framework
- an understanding of and the ability to apply bicultural and/or cultural competence
- proven experience gathering and applying evidence/research based practices; and
- excellent intrapersonal skills to establish effective, collaborative working relationships
- strong leadership & analytical skills, the ability to develop new initiatives.
