The opportunity
As a Specialist Operator, you’ll be responsible for operating machinery to carry out skilled tasks in civil and roading works. Your duties will include the safe and efficient handling of excavators, loaders, rollers, trucks, mid-mount tractors, and graders. You’ll work on a variety of projects for both internal and external clients throughout the Manawatu Region, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes of practice and quality standards.
In addition to the above you will:
Conduct thorough machinery checks—such as tyres, oil, and grease—prior to operation, ensuring any required maintenance is completed before use
Participate in pre-start meetings, understanding potential hazards and the plans to manage them
Embrace and actively follow our Living Safely 2.0 approach
Always operate machinery safely with professionalism
Undertake general labouring tasks as required
Deliver work to our clients safely, promptly, and to the highest quality standards

We're looking for someone with:
A full, clean Class 2 driver’s licence (Class 4 is desirable)
WTR endorsements
Proven experience operating machinery within civil construction / contracting roles
Significant experience with excavator operation
Willingness to adapt to varied daily tasks and to grow alongside our team
Solid understanding of safety protocols and industry standards, maintaining a safe and compliant workplace
Strong communication skills and the ability to solve problems in a dynamic, fast-paced setting
Impeccable attention to detail, with a strong commitment to delivering top quality work
Capacity to work collaboratively within a team, demonstrating reliability, excellent communication, and a proactive approach
