As we prepare for opening day and beyond, we're assembling a talented and passionate sports turf management team to maintain and elevate the playing surface that will host unforgettable moments. We have multiple positions available all vital to keeping the playing surface in top condition.
The team operates under a structured hierarchy that incorporates the efficient planning, services, and enhancement of all turf areas within the stadium precinct and the associated dedicated turf farm.

The Sports Turf Trainee is an entry-level team member undergoing on-the-job training through a structured level 4 apprenticeship. They support the curators across a range of routine turf maintenance tasks while learning industry best practices, equipment use, and turf management skills under supervision and guidance from experienced staff.
About you | Ko Koe Tēnei
You will have:
- An active interest in turf management.
- Level 2 NCEA certificate or relevant experience.
- Strong reading and writing skills.
- You'll love working in a team environment, learning from the best, and to work outside.
- Full driver licence
Due to the nature of operations at a high-performance, multi-use venue, the Te Kaha Turf Management Team will operate on a flexible, 7-day roster. Team members will be required to work some weekends, public holidays, and outside standard business hours as required, to support events at the venue. Rosters will be planned in advance and include fair and equitable distribution of hours.
This flexible approach ensures the playing surface and surrounding turf areas are maintained to the highest standards before, during, and after all scheduled events.
About One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha
From All Blacks tests to star-studded concerts - and everything in between - One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha will host around 200 events each year.
On track to open in April 2026, the stadium is located in the heart of Christchurch, bounded by Tuam, Madras, Hereford and Barbadoes Streets.
Just a ten-minute walk from the city's Bus Interchange and surrounded by vibrant hospitality spots and accommodation options, the covered stadium will play a key role in re-establishing Christchurch as a sporting and cultural capital.
One New Zealand Stadium at Te Kaha will add to the central city's vitality, catalyse further development, and boost the local economy by attracting visitors from around New Zealand and the world.

- Salary - The salary band for this position is $57,824 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
