We'll cover the cost for you to complete your Infrastructure Works qualifications! Pertaining Watercourse maintenance, i.e. Chainsaw, Growsafe (weed spraying), Pest plant identification.
If you enjoy working outdoors and have experience in construction, maintenance, or drainage systems, this could be the perfect role for you. Our Watercourse Maintenance Team focuses on ensuring open drains, channels, and culverts remain clear and fully operational.
On any given day, your tasks could include:
- Clearing debris from streams/open drains and culverts.
- Repairing or reinforcing drainage structures.
- Responding to emergency flooding or blockages.
- Performing routine inspections and maintenance.
- Working alongside environmental teams to ensure stormwater is managed sustainably.
- Operating machinery or hand tools to maintain drainage channels.
Qualifications

- Experience in the trade or civil industry.
- Mechanical type background.
- Prepared to work in all weather conditions and physically fit.
- Commitment to completing a NZQA qualification.
- Can pass a pre-employment medical.
- Able to keep accurate records, both written and electronically.
- Able to work unsupervised and follow instructions.
- Able to communicate to colleagues and public in a positive manner.
- Available to be rostered on-call afterhours.
- Full NZ Drivers Licence (Class 2 would be an advantage).
