Te Tūranga - The Role:
Our Rotorua Catchments Team is working on monitoring Environmental Programmes on rural Rotorua properties…and we need your help!
We need someone to help us with:
- Visiting rural Rotorua properties and collecting GPS data of protected/retired areas.
- Environmental Programme restoration area assessments including checking the state of fences, native plant establishment, pest plant presence and other physical features specified in the plans.
- Data entry (MS Office).
- Communicating with rural Rotorua landowners.
- GIS map creation and annotation.
You’ll be joining the Rotorua Catchments Team. Our team is involved in traditional land management, encouraging landowners to manage their land sustainably. We are also working to actively reduce nutrients coming from farms. The primary objective of our team is to work with landowners to improve water quality and biodiversity within the Rotorua Lakes catchments.

Ideal applicants for this role should:
- Be interested in pursuing a career in Environmental, Conservation or Resource Management related fields.
- Be studying or plan to commence studying towards Environmental management/sciences related qualification.
- Hold a current full driver's licence.
- Have sound Microsoft Office skills (MS Excel and MS Word).
- Be familiar with farms and rural land use.
This position will be located in Rotorua.
