We are seeking an experienced Sybase ASE Migration Specialist to lead and support the upgrade of a legacy Sybase ASE 15.7 environment to ASE 16.0. This role is critical to an infrastructure modernization initiative and will involve close collaboration with infrastructure, application, and database teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess current Sybase ASE 15.7 environment and identify upgrade prerequisites
- Plan and execute migration to Sybase ASE 16.0, including testing and validation
- Ensure compatibility with updated operating systems (e.g., Windows Server 2016+)
- Perform Unicode compliance checks and conversions if required
- Optimize database performance post-migration
- Document migration steps, configurations, and rollback procedures
- Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams during the transition
- Collaborate with vendors and SAP support as needed
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven experience with Sybase ASE 15.7 and 16.0, including upgrade/migration projects
- Strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, and backup/recovery
- Familiarity with Windows Server environments and OS compatibility considerations
- Experience with Unicode migration and data integrity validation
- Ability to troubleshoot complex database issues and optimize performance
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP Certified Technology Associate – Sybase ASE (or equivalent)
- Experience with other RDBMS platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle) is a plus
Familiarity with infrastructure lifecycle management and legacy system remediation

Pay: $150,000.00 – $160,000.00 per year
