Imagine waking up to the serene beauty that is Rotorua – with lakes at your doorstep and embracing the thrill of mountain biking in the metropolis of trails. Join Te Kaunihera o ngā roto o Rotorua | Rotorua Lakes Council and be part of a team that brings exceptional projects to life, such as the iconic Sir Howard Morrison Centre, the current revitalisation of the Rotorua Aquatic Centre, and the stunning Rotorua Lakefront Redevelopment. As a council deeply rooted in biculturalism and a strong connection with Te Arawa, our local iwi, this is your opportunity to work at the forefront of culture, people, and connections.
Kauria ngā wai o ngā roto, kauria ngā wai o ngā kaupapa nui! Swim the tranquil waters of our lakes, bathe in the opportunities working at Council provides.

Rotorua Lakes Council is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable System Trainer to design and deliver engaging, effective training experiences across the organisation. In this pivotal role, you will champion digital transformation by supporting system adoption and ensuring staff are confident and capable in their use of new technologies from the outset.
You will work collaboratively across the organisation to drive consistent digital capability. With your expertise in adult learning and instructional design, you will develop clear, accessible training materials and resources that make technical concepts understandable for all staff, regardless of their experience or role. Your training will include onboarding programmes, targeted sessions for new system modules or updates, and ongoing support to address queries and troubleshoot user issues in real time.
Your work will be instrumental in empowering staff, reducing their reliance on IT and technical teams, and ensuring the benefits of digital improvements are realised across the organisation. You will coordinate and facilitate training that supports change management initiatives and guide staff through new digital processes, updates, and enhancements. Evaluating the effectiveness of training through feedback, assessments, and ongoing analysis will allow you to refine your approach and champion continuous improvement in digital literacy and user adoption.
The ideal candidate will hold a postgraduate qualification in Education, Information Technology or a related discipline, or possess significant equivalent experience, ideally complemented by professional certifications in adult education, digital transformation, or instructional design. You will demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a proven ability to simplify complex technical practices, and experience supporting digital change across an organisation. Familiarity with systems such as TechnologyOne and CiA would be an advantage, but most importantly you will bring a passion for empowering others and cultivating digital confidence throughout the council.
