An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Workplace Resolutions and Investigations team to lead the Employment investigation side of the business.
The purpose of the Team Leader: Employment Investigations is to oversee timely and thorough employment investigations in accordance with the Employment Relations Act 2000 and policy.
Police is committed to taking a holistic and people-centric approach to resolving any complaints or issues that arise and appear to breach our Code of Conduct and/or Values. The purpose of the newly established Workplace Resolutions & Investigations team is to promote, manage and progress the appropriate and consistent use of pathways (restorative, alternative and employment investigations) through to resolution. Resolving conduct related matters using a values-based framework that allows our people to feel safe to talk and supports a high-trust culture is priority.
You’ll be working closely with another Team Lead: Employment Investigations and together oversee a total of 10 employment investigators.
You will be able to lead a team and have a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and proven ability to form positive working relationships both internally and externally. You will be a collaborative leader who is committed to developing and maintaining high performing teams, culture and process. Most importantly you’ll live our values and role model the type of culture and leadership we want our whole organisation to achieve. You will also liaise closely with case managers of the disciplinary function in the HR Advisory team and interact with the Police Association and IPCA.
Key Accountabilities:
Lead the team of employment Investigators to achieve desired outcomes.
Responsible for the delivery, quality, and consistency of employment investigations.
Responsible for the appropriate prioritisation and resourcing within the team to ensure investigations and/or alternative pathways can be progressed.
Lead and champion best practice around employment investigations within Police.
Ensure areas of potential risk to Police image, trust and confidence and reputation with employee matters are identified and appropriately escalated.
Responsible for conducting employment investigations, as required (i.e. large and complex)
Lead or assist, as required with case progression for alternative pathways including restorative practices.
Responsible for the wellness of the Employment Investigators ensuring support networks are in place and utilised where required. Given the nature of the work, a focus on team welfare and qualities that foster a culture of wellness, open communication and rapport with team members is key.
Contribute to a learning culture, team innovation, and ensure activities and opportunities exist that support continuous improvement.

Know the impact of unconscious bias and how to manage own biases.
Ability to think ‘outside the box’ as it relates to solutions.
Have an understanding of operational policing and its context in employment matters.
Bring the right mindset to the role, including application of the team’s guiding principles.

Utu ā-tau | Salary
This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence between $110,425 and $117,014 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
