ABOUT FABRUM

Fabrum has built a reputation of pioneering world-first technologies in cryogenics and hydrogen solutions, fueled by our exceptional R&D capabilities. Fabrum completed its Series A capital raise in 2023, attracting $23M in investment from high profile global investors. Now, we're leveraging that innovative passion to take our solutions to the world.

Fabrum is headquartered in Christchurch, New Zealand and leads the world in industrialized small to medium scale liquefaction systems and composite cryogenic vessels. The company is actively deploying end to end liquid hydrogen solutions globally across heavy transport, mining and aviation markets. Core competencies include green hydrogen production, storage, dispensing and system integration. Fabrum also has a strong presence in international markets for liquid nitrogen, liquid oxygen and LNG solutions with customers ranging from animal husbandry to hi-tech research institutions, manufacturing and defence.

We want to take our clever solutions and develop a better future by helping the world tread lightly.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Technical Buyer at Fabrum is a strategic and pivotal role within our Supply Chain team, focused on securing the critical, high-value, and long-lead equipment essential for our groundbreaking zero-emission projects. You'll be at the forefront of enabling Fabrum's innovative solutions across heavy transport, mining, aviation, and other heavy industrial sectors. This role directly impacts our project success, cost optimization, and our global leadership in clean energy.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Strategic Sourcing: Lead end-to-end sourcing for highly technical components (e.g., liquefaction systems, advanced composites).
  • Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and qualify new global suppliers.
  • Projects: Collaborate to integrate procurement into project timelines for on-time delivery of long-lead equipment.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering, Project Management, and Manufacturing teams to deliver outcomes.
  • Risk and Cost Management: Drive cost savings and assess and mitigate supply chain risks where possible.
  • Process Enhancement: Manage procurement via ERP with a continuous improvement mindset.

This role requires you to work independently, taking ownership of complex procurement cycles for significant high-value equipment, making sound judgments, and proactively addressing challenges.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Good experience sourcing complex technical components and capital equipment, ideally in aerospace, energy, or advanced manufacturing, with knowledge of cryogenics or hydrogen. You should also be able to read technical drawings.
  • A technical background or engineering experience will be highly beneficial.
  • Negotiation skills for cost savings, plus the ability to analyze data and make smart, data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in procurement ERP systems and/or a good process mindset plus strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication to work with teams and suppliers, and strong organizational skills to manage project timelines.
  • A mindset for learning new technologies and improving processes.

RECRUITMENT

The recruitment process will include a phone interview with HR followed by a video or in-person interview with the hiring manager. If you need any accommodations so that you can perform at your best during the interview process please don't hesitate to let us know.

There's a lot of research which shows that some groups of people are less likely to apply for a role unless they are confident they meet 100% of the requirements. Fabrum is a growing company with a need for diversity of thought and experience. We want talented people who see the future as we do and that's much more important than ticking every box. Join our growing company and realise your potential to make a real impact. We're searching for passionate individuals eager to contribute their skills and experience. Apply today!
