Who We Are
We’re a proud, Kiwi-owned business that’s all about helping New Zealanders get the job done—whether they’re tackling a DIY project or working in the trade. We partner with some of New Zealand’s best-known brands, and while we’ve grown to become the largest group of Mitre 10 stores, we still hold onto that local, family feel.
From our first store in Warkworth in 2009, we’ve expanded across Auckland with stores in Albany, New Lynn, Warkworth, Whangaparaoa, and Silverdale—plus our own Columbus Coffee cafés, Frame & Truss Manufacturing Plant, and a Distribution Centre.
About the Store
Mitre 10 MEGA New Lynn is a dynamic, fast-paced store located in the heart of West Auckland. We’re more than just a home improvement destination—we’re a proud part of the local community, known for our friendly service, expert advice, and supportive team culture.
As one of the MEGA stores in the region, we’re passionate about helping Kiwis improve their homes and gardens. From power tools and paint to homeware and plants, we’ve got it all—backed by a team that truly cares.
You’ll be joining a diverse, inclusive, and high-energy team that values collaboration, customer focus, and continuous learning. If you’re after a role where no two days are the same and your contribution really matters, this is the place for you.
About the Role
We’re looking for a full-time team member to join our Timber & Building department at Mitre 10 MEGA New Lynn. If you’ve worked in a trade yard, supported customers at a trade counter, or handled building supplies—this could be your next great opportunity.
This role is 40 hours per week and includes one weekend day (ideally Saturday). You’ll help a wide range of customers—DIYers and tradies alike—by providing advice, processing sales at the counter, and keeping the yard safe, tidy, and well-stocked. You'll also be expected to operate machinery (like forklifts and saws), unload stock, and lend a hand across the team wherever needed.
Sound mathematical ability is essential, as timber is sold by linear meter and often requires calculations at the point of sale.
What You’ll Bring
Timber, trade, or building supply experience strongly preferred
General product knowledge and an interest in the building industry required
Forklift licence with F Endorsement (or a full, clean Class 1 licence – we can help with training)
Strong math skills—comfortable calculating lengths and quantities
Physically fit and safety-minded (you’ll be lifting, stacking, and moving stock)
Team-focused with great communication and a can-do attitude
Must live locally (West Auckland or nearby) for reliability and travel ease
Must be available to work 40 hours per week, including one weekend day
The Perks
- Generous staff purchase scheme at select Columbus Café’s and Mitre 10 stores
- Full-time, permanent role with consistent hours
- Supportive team and opportunities to grow your skills
- Variety, responsibility, and the chance to make a difference
