Shelter Renovation Limited is seeking a motivated Wood Machinist to join our team in Whangarei, Northland region. The role involves operating and maintaining woodworking machinery to cut, shape, and finish components. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and the ability to follow specifications accurately to ensure quality output.
Key Responsibilities:
- Studying and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine appropriate materials, dimensions, tools, and machine settings.
- Selecting, inspecting, and preparing timber or wood-based materials to ensure they meet required standards prior to machining.
- Setting up and operating woodworking machinery and equipment such as planers, saws, routers, lathes, moulders, and borers to cut, shape, and finish components to precise specifications.
- Monitoring machine operations during the machining process and making adjustments as needed to maintain output quality and consistency.
- Measuring and inspecting finished components using appropriate tools to verify accuracy in dimensions, shapes, and finishes in line with required tolerances and quality standards.
- Maintaining and sharpening cutting tools, blades, and machine components to ensure optimal performance and precision.
- Adhering to workplace health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and will be paid between $30 to $35 per hour.
