About the role – Kōrero mō te tūranga

We're looking for a passionate Advisor, Events and Engagement to design and deliver impactful experiences that drive philanthropic support for New Zealand Red Cross’s humanitarian mission. From bespoke donor events to scalable community activations and volunteering opportunities, you'll create meaningful connections with supporters—including schools, members, community groups, major donors, and corporates. We welcome applications from candidates based in either the Auckland or Wellington areas.

In this role you will:

  • Plan and deliver a portfolio of impactful national fundraising events for key audiences including schools, community fundraisers, corporate partners, and high-value prospects.
  • Support bespoke engagement opportunities for major donors and legacy prospects, working closely with the Planned Giving team.
  • Empower and enable communities—schools, members, branches, and volunteers—to deliver local fundraising and engagement activities that build future donor pipelines.
  • Advise and collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent, high-quality supporter engagement and alignment with organisational priorities.
  • Lead regional engagement strategies and donor experiences, including VIP volunteering, ensuring local relevance and national impact while contributing to a seamless donor journey.

Who are we looking for? – Mā‎ wai te mahi nei?

To be successful you will have:

  • Proven experience delivering events and engagement programs in fundraising, community, or corporate contexts, ideally with 3+ years in a similar role.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences including schools, volunteers, and high-value supporters.
  • Strong project management abilities, with a track record of independently developing and delivering events, managing multiple priorities, and maintaining attention to detail.
  • Comfortable hosting events and representing New Zealand Red Cross with professionalism and integrity
  • Creative and strategic thinker, with knowledge of audience segmentation, donor journeys, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Collaborative and emotionally intelligent, with strong ethical judgment, initiative, and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and communities.
