About your team - Ko te tima
The Hazardous Substances Authorisations team carries out a variety of certification and authorisation functions in the area of hazardous substances to support compliance with workplace health and safety regulations.
The team is primarily Wellington-based, sees plenty of variety and encounters challenging topics daily but our location can be flexible. We work closely with industry and other experts, as well as with key WorkSafe teams including legal and policy.
About the role - O te turanga
We have a great opportunity for an Advisor to join the Hazardous Substances Authorisations team, which is part of our wider Authorisations and Advisory team. As an Advisor you will be managing a variety of authorisation processes required under the Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations. This includes, exemptions applications, compliance plans and equipment approvals and compliance certifier applications.
What You'll Do - Ko tou ake mahi:
- Process applications and provide recommendations that contribute to a strong and effective compliance certification regime.
- Support the wider team to ensure effective risk management and provide timely and accurate responses to external queries.
- Assist the team in responding to peaks in the workload
What You'll Bring - Ko nga pukenga ou:
- Ability to effectively assess and manage short and long-term risks.
- Ability to maintain accurate information and to provide informative reports.
- Ability to effectively support, coach and grow the capability of other staff in the team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships.

Salary range - Awhe utu
As part of our remuneration framework the full salary range for the position is from $94,399 to $123,974 and our expected starting base salary for the right person is from $94,399 to $104,257. Note: KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contribution is additional to/on top of your base salary.
