About the role

  • Ensure correct preparation of acute and elective flow of patients into theatre, focusing on out-of-theatre coordination
  • Promote and lead excellence in clinical practice
  • Ensure high-quality nursing care for acute and elective surgical patients
  • Collaborate with all speciality nurse leaders, theatre coordinators, charge nurse manager, and duty coordinator
  • Manage acute and elective demand on bed flow to improve patient experience and reduce wasted resources (e.g. late cancellations)
  • Provide specialist nursing care and expertise in both direct care delivery and staff mentoring
  • Diversify across the perioperative team in the roles of clinician, educator, consultant, researcher, and leader/change agent
  • Pursue clinical excellence and improved health outcomes

About you

  • Advanced communication skills including conflict resolution, diffusion, and mediation techniques
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Proven advanced knowledge and skills in perioperative nursing
  • Hold or be working towards a postgraduate qualification (minimum diploma, ideally a master's degree)

Salary range

This role is covered by the terms and conditions of the expired NZNO CEA. The salary will be in accordance with the designated senior nurse pay scale, Grade 1 – between step 1: $114,025 and step 2: $121,444 p.a., depending on relevant experience.
