About the role

Working in our Intellectual Disability Service, this role will initiate and facilitate mental health service educational requirements for all staff and provide educational support for other healthcare providers.

The clinical nurse specialist in this role will not only develop and deliver mandatory training to the MHAIDs workforce, but also review workforce training needs and develop or facilitate new training alongside other agencies, as required.

The role will model specialist mental health nursing care based on substantial theoretical knowledge and work with nursing staff to continually develop practice. You will also contribute to the ongoing development of clinical skills across the MHAID workforce.

About you

In addition to your nursing qualifications, you will hold postgraduate qualifications relevant to mental health, at minimum a diploma, preferably a master's degree.

We are looking for a positive and confident registered nurse who has the drive and enthusiasm to motivate staff and engage them in their clinical development. You will be a respected professional in your own right and an exceptional team member with strong communication skills.

You will have support and networking with other clinical nurse specialists working within Mental Health, Addictions, and Intellectual Disability Services across Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, Southern.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • have or be working towards Level 4 PDRP
  • be a registered nurse with an APC and a scope to work in mental health
  • have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • have intermediate to advanced computer skills.
