Waimakariri District Council
South Waikato District, Waikato
Full time

  • Join a great team
  • Make a positive difference in your community
  • Casual role in Oxford

This could be the most interesting role at the Council – it definitely has the most variety. Our Team helps people with enquiries covering all aspects of Council. No two days are the same and your next conversation could be about water, drainage, roads, rates, dog registration, kerbside bins or any of the many services the Council provides for our growing community.

If you are passionate about providing exceptional customer service you could be the dedicated and enthusiastic Customer Services Officer we need to join our team on a casual basis. This role will be based at the Oxford Service Centre, however there may be the opportunity to work at our other service centres.

You will be the first point of contact for our community, handling enquiries in person and via phone, email, online and social media. Your primary focus will be ensuring that every interaction is professional, approachable and solutions-focused.

You should be:

Customer Focused: a strong customer service background with at least 12 months of call centre experience.

Tech-savvy: you are proficient with Microsoft Office products and can quickly learn new applications.

Excellent Communicator: clear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writing.

Organised: you can manage and prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Team Player: a positive attitude and able to collaborate effectively with colleagues and the community. Customers are at the heart of everything we do.

This is a casual role, there are no fixed or guaranteed hours of work. It would suit someone who is available at short notice to cover staff illness as well as planned leave and peak workloads.

We offer:

  • An opportunity to make a positive difference to our growing community
  • A great team and a job with lots of variety
  • Ongoing training and development
  • A competitive remuneration package dependent on skills and experience, current range $57,630 - $67,800 (full time equivalent gross per annum).

Please submit your application, including your CV and a cover letter by Monday 18th August 2025.

The Council is an equal opportunities employer.
