Freeman & Grey is Ponsonby’s go-to casual hangout. We’re famous for our hand-stretched pizzas (think Wagyu bolognese, pistachio chicken, and the classic Margherita) and an epic menu designed for sharing - fried chicken, calamari, burgers, platters, and indulgent desserts.
By day, we’re buzzing with pizzas and casual catch-ups. By night, especially Friday and Saturday from 11pm, we transform into Ponsonby’s ultimate party spot: DJs upstairs and downstairs, two bars in full swing, and a line out the door.
It’s fun, it’s fast, and it’s always pumping.
The Role
We’re on the hunt for a Superstar Manager to lead our team and deliver an unforgettable experience for every guest. You’ll oversee smooth service during busy lunches and dinners, then kick things into high gear as we flip into late-night party mode.
This is a full-time role with an average of at least 30 hours per week. Working weekends and late nights is essential, but there’s flexibility in how your week looks. If you prefer, you can opt for a 4-day working week - working Friday to Monday and then enjoying Tuesday to Thursday off.
The Pay
- $30.00 - $36.00 per hour depending on experience
You will:
- Ensure the environment within the site is always top notch.
- Guarantee the customer journey for your outlet is being followed by all team members.
- Make sure quality of products, plus waiting times exceed expectation.
- Take responsibility for daily/ weekly procedures including ordering, receiving and stock take.
- Lead your team, provide feedback and set a high example by always operating above the line.
- Arranging the purchasing and pricing of goods according to budget.
- Maintaining records of stock levels and financial transactions.
- Ensuring dining facilities comply with health regulations and are clean, functional and of suitable appearance.
- Conferring with customers to assess their satisfaction with meals and service.
- Selecting, training and supervising waiting staff.
- Make reservations, greet guests and assist in taking orders.
Skills / Experience / What we are looking for
- Some management experience in a hospitality venue with a team of bigger than 5
- Excellent presentation and strong clear communication
- Leadership, energy and enthusiasm, if you've been a leader in a sports team, school, university or volunteer organisation that is great
- A managers certificate or LCQ is preferred
- You're looking for a long term career in hospitality
- A relevant qualification at Level 4 or above of the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF); or at least 2 years of relevant experience
