About the role
Due to an internal promotion, we're now looking for a driven and experienced Estimating Manager to lead our commercial, bid, and estimation practices. This is a key leadership role that ensures the delivery of high-quality, market-aligned tenders and quotations that support Connetics' strategic goals and contractual commitments.
Working collaboratively across multiple departments, you'll guide a skilled Estimating team to provide accurate, timely, and fit-for-purpose responses. Your commercial insights and leadership will directly support customer retention, business growth, and operational performance. You'll also contribute to commercial and process improvements across other business units and customer-initiated project teams.
Success in this role will be measured by the team's ability to secure strategically aligned work that meets our financial and operational objectives.
About you
You bring strong commercial estimating or quantity surveying experience, ideally within the electrical or infrastructure sector. Your background may include hands-on field experience in electrical work, giving you practical insight to complement your commercial acumen.
You're a proven leader who builds capable, motivated teams. You combine a sharp eye for detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and you're committed to delivering excellent service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Skills /Experience
- Proven leadership experience in a corporate or operational environment.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Quantity Surveying or similar discipline or 10 years plus of experience working in those areas.
- Solid experience in estimating and/or quantity surveying, ideally in the electrical or infrastructure sector.
- Experienced in commercial negotiations with construction and infrastructure contracting.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and power construction practices.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written - confident liaising with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Experience in planning and resource scheduling is an advantage.
- Familiarity with the Orion and Canterbury electrical networks is a plus.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Knowledge of NZ electrical standards, codes, and regulations or willingness to learn.
- Current and valid New Zealand driver's licence.
