Are you a natural connector with a sharp eye for detail and a passion for uncovering the truth?

Do you thrive in dynamic environments where no two days are the same? The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) is looking for a skilled and adaptable Field Intelligence Officer to join our national field intelligence team.

We're seeking candidates who bring a mix of field experience, analytical thinking, and interpersonal skills. You'll need to be comfortable working in ambiguous situations, making sound judgements, and engaging with a wide range of people.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills - able to build rapport and trust quickly.
  • Sound judgement and a problem-solving mindset
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to changing operational needs
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including short periods away from home.
  • A current New Zealand driver's licence.
  • NZ citizenship or residence class visa (if based in NZ).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a national security clearance.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in intelligence collection, law enforcement, defence, or regulatory environments.
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Understanding of MBIE's operating environment and national security systems.
