Mō te tūnga | About the role

We are recruiting for an Intelligence Supervisor to support Wellington District’s frontline operations in our busy, world-class intelligence unit.

As an Intelligence Supervisor, and a leader within the Wellington District Intelligence Unit, you will help ensure decision makers have the intelligence needed to make Wellington District a safer place.

In this role you will lead a team of intelligence professionals and oversee the development and delivery of Intelligence products to support tactical and operational decision-making. You will engage proactively with a range of workgroups and decision-makers to understand requirements and work closely with members of the Intelligence Leadership Team to ensure close connectivity and effective service delivery. You will also manage your own projects and workstreams as part of our local intelligence governance function to support and align our processes and outputs with District priorities.

This position is currently responsible for overseeing the delivery of intelligence support to tactical operations, critical incidents and offender management. A core component of the Wellington District Intelligence Unit’s operating model is the periodic rotation of analytic portfolios to encourage innovation and development, and the focus of this role will rotate in the future.

You will demonstrate a positive, open mindset and be innovative and solutions-focused in your thinking. You must be able to manage the nature of the work we undertake, and the organisational challenges of policing and intelligence. The environment can be fast paced and as such you need to be adaptable. You will have the ability to motivate and develop a high performing team and be able to foster a positive and productive team culture.

If you have experience as an intelligence practitioner, as a leader or a blend of both, then this position may suit you.

Key Accountabilities:
Ensure all intelligence products meet the standards for timeliness, content and quality.
Maintain strong liaisons and provide clear communication with key stakeholders and relevant workgroups.
Ensure intelligence collection and dissemination meets policy and protocol guidelines.
Provide advice to workgroups and agencies to support the achievement of District intelligence goals.
Provide leadership and direction for the team while leading the setting of goals and standards for the unit.
Lead with empathy and a strong focus on the welfare and development of your staff.
Work effectively as a member of a team.

He aha taau e kawe mai | What you’ll bring

Whilst we are looking for skills, knowledge and experience relevant to the role, we also place high importance on your state of mind, the alignment of your values with ours, your ability to contribute to and build high performing teams, and the way that you lead yourself or others
