Join Our Team in Nelson – as Water Supervisor Fixed Term (18 months)

We are searching for an experienced and motivated Water Supervisor to join our Nelson-based civil construction team on an 18-month fixed-term contract. Key Responsibilities – Water Infrastructure Supervision
- Manage the daily operations of water installation and maintenance projects, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
- Support and supervise teams undertaking all aspects of water-related civil construction, including smart meter installation, trenching, pipelaying, water main cut-ins, backfilling, and commissioning activities.
- Interpret and communicate site plans, technical drawings, and project specifications to your team.
- Monitor on-site health, safety, and environmental compliance; identify and address hazards quickly and proactively.
- Oversee progress reporting, materials management, and issue escalation, keeping all stakeholders informed and aligned.
- Mentor and train team members, fostering an engaged, safety-first culture and supporting career development for all staff.
- Collaborate with clients, engineers, and project managers to ensure the successful delivery of water infrastructure works on time and within budget.
Skills, Experience, and Attributes Sought
- Demonstrated experience supervising 3 water, civil, pipeline, or infrastructure teams (ideally in a similar environment).
- Strong knowledge of 3 water systems, industry standards, and civil construction best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to motivate, develop, and lead teams from diverse backgrounds.
- Exceptional safety awareness and experience implementing health & safety protocols on-site.
- Organisational and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to managing projects and people.
- Full New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 1) is essential; WTR endorsements and/or Class 2 licence are advantageous.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand is required.
