Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a General Practitioner to join Mauri Ora, the student health service, on a permanent, part-time basis. The role will be responsible for providing exceptional care and medical services for the University’s students.
Key responsibilities:
- Patient care – ensuring students are provided high quality and accessible health care.
- Contribute to peer review, CME and MDT meetings when required.
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team which includes our counselling team, nurse practitioners, health improvement practitioners, and health coach.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
You will be a motivated, empathetic individual with experience in some or all the following: gender diversity, LARC insertion, minor surgery, ADHD, sexual health and mental health (desirable).
You will be a highly organised self-starter and natural relationship builder, who relishes working autonomously as well as contributing positively to a high performing team. You will need effective time management and forward planning to balance your clinic and maintain a high standard of service to our students. The ability to remain calm under pressure and thrive working with a diverse range of individuals will go far in this position.
Key requirements:
- Current registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
- Considerable experience in general practice or similar experience relevant to the work of a student health service.
- Proof of medical indemnity insurance.
- Empathy and understanding of the challenges in working with a student population and an ability to interact positively with them to foster resilience, personal safety, and academic success.
- This role requires safety checking through the police vetting system under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014.
