Design with impact. Build a better world
We’re looking for a Lead Water Engineer, specifically with Pipeline / Transmission Pipeline design and construction experience who thrives on solving complex problems and delivering critical infrastructure that supports Aotearoa’s infrastructure future.
At Aurecon, you’ll join a team of engineering experts working on critical infrastructure delivery projects. From master planning, concept and detail design and construction oversight of large and small water and wastewater transmission pipelines and pump stations, our work is diverse, rewarding, and impactful.
What’s the mahi?
Lead and deliver end-to-end engineering design for water and wastewater pipeline systems, from master planning and concept design through to detailed design and construction monitoring. This includes hydraulic analysis, vertical and horizontal alignment, oversight of Civil 3D modelling, development of construction methodologies, and the preparation of risk and safety-in-design assessments.
Collaborate closely with other technical teams including civil, structural, geotechnical and consenting teams to resolve technical interfaces across varied terrain and to ensure all project aspects are aligned with client objectives, regulatory requirements, industry standards and best practice.
Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and documentation across all project phases.
Manage budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering technical development and knowledge sharing.
Stay across evolving industry standards and innovations, bringing fresh thinking to resilience, sustainability, and best practice in pipeline design.
Apply your expertise not just in Aotearoa but also contribute to projects across Australia through cross-regional collaboration.
What you’ll bring:
A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
At least 12 + years’ experience in water infrastructure, particularly pipelines and pump stations.
A strong understanding of NZ design standards and the ability to develop fit-for-purpose solutions that align with client goals and regulatory expectations.
Preferably Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
Proficiency in pipeline analysis tools
Experience in stormwater design and broader civil construction is a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, peers, and stakeholders.
A self-driven, personable, and client-focused approach with a natural leadership presence.
