Te Tūranga | About the role
This role is 38 hours per week primarily worked over the following days and locations:
Tuesday 8:30am - 5:30pm Greerton Library & Community Hub
Wednesday 8:00am - 5:00pm Greerton Library & Community Hub
Thursday 8:00am - 5:00pm Greerton Library & Community Hub
Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm Tauranga Library & Community Hub
Saturday 9:00am - 4.00pm Tauranga Library & Community Hub
Sunday & Monday off
As a Library Community Hub Assistant you will be the first point of contact for enquiries relating to Tauranga City Council’s services, and you’ll welcome and assist our community to access library services.
You will be working at both Greerton Library & Community Hub and Tauranga Library & Community Hub, providing excellent customer service to the community. Once fully trained in both council and library roles, your daily tasks will include:
- Providing accurate information to customers about a wide range of council services, including rates, dog registrations, parking, community engagement, bylaws, and other council activities
- Library tasks including assisting with promotion and delivery of library programmes, recommending collections, connecting customers to digital library resources such as e-books, printing and scanning.
- Upskilling knowledge of Te Ao Māori, council and library databases, computer programmes, changes in technology, health and safety.
Ngā Pukenga | What you’ll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- Minimum of 3 years’ work experience, preferably in a library, local council, community or customer service environment
- Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills
- Resilience when dealing with challenging customers and situations.
- The ability to communicate with people within our diverse Tauranga City community
