About the Role

This exciting new opportunity is part of a national initiative to strengthen Allied Health services in critical care. Based in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Tauranga Hospital, this role is designed for a skilled Occupational Therapist passionate about making a difference for patients at their most vulnerable.

You will work alongside a dynamic inpatient occupational therapy team and collaborate with Allied Health Clinical Leads, senior critical care, medical, and nursing staff. This varied role will see you support patients navigating complex health conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, frailty, and general medical issues. Your contribution will help shape an evolving service and provide meaningful occupational therapy where it is needed most.

This position offers flexibility in working hours and days to suit the right candidate.

About the Team/Service/ Location

Our amazing team in the critical care services are fast-paced and collaborative, focused on patient-centred care. You will be joining a dedicated Allied Health whānau passionate about delivering high-quality, equitable care. This role will allow you to engage in transdisciplinary learning while being based in one of New Zealand's most scenic coastal regions.

About you

What you will bring:

  • NZ registration with a current Annual Practicing Certificate in Occupational Therapy
  • Experience in acute care settings, ideally including ICU, Emergency Department, or High Dependency Units
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills and teamwork
  • Cultural competence and a strong commitment to equitable care
  • Drive to grow and shape Allied Health provision in critical care
