About the Role
This Principal Advisor will support positive outcomes in the health system by ensuring Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora and its Ministers meet their machinery of government obligations.
The primary purpose of the role is to:
- provide timely, high-quality complex and nuanced responses and advice
- provide technical subject matter expertise in machinery of government
- mentor and coach colleagues
- identify, manage and mitigate issues and risks
- play a leading role in developing advice and supporting capability development across Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora relative to their subject matter expertise
- help other team members with complex or contentious work
About the Service
The Government Services group manages high volumes of products – around 3,000 OIAs, 5,500 WPQs, 2,000 ministerials and 1,500 briefings per year. This is a fast-paced environment with expectations of meeting deadlines and providing Ministers and the public with quality products.
About you
You bring strong technical knowledge of the machinery of government, with previous experience working in government and engaging with the office of a Minister. You have excellent written and oral communication skills and can adapt complex messages for a range of audiences in a clear and concise way.
You are experienced in managing competing priorities and thrive in complex, demanding environments, maintaining composure under pressure. Your interpersonal and relationship management skills enable you to build and foster strong stakeholder relationships.
With a sharp eye for detail and a high level of accuracy, you take pride in delivering quality work. You are approachable, collegial, and enjoy working collaboratively with others to achieve results and share knowledge.
