SLR, with a national Planning team of approximately 60 planning professionals, offers comprehensive planning services across diverse sectors, including government (central and local government), infrastructure, energy, forestry, built environment (subdivision, and land use) and telecommunications.
A rare opportunity has come up for a Principal Planner to join our Whangarei office. We seek an industry expert ready to make an immediate impact. The role will have a blend of Northland and outside the region focus, tailored to the successful candidate's expertise. This position offers a great opportunity for a seasoned planner to leverage their skills in a supportive, collaborative environment, while making a significant impact on regional and national projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Play a key role in the delivery and management of policy and/or consenting projects across SLR’s client portfolio.
- Cultivating, maintaining, and expanding SLR's client relationships
- Driving project delivery within your areas of specialisation
- Providing leadership, technical support, and guidance to the team
- Undertaking technical and peer reviews of reports
- Work collaboratively and efficiently with the wider Planning team to meet team targets while meeting your own professional goals
Skills and experience
You will also possess the following skills:
- A professional qualification in resource management planning or other relevant degree
- Obtained or working towards full NZPI membership
- 8-15+ years' experience in planning and resource management
- Experience as a mentor and or coach to other consultants
- Strong client relationship management skills
- Demonstrated experience working in multidisciplinary project teams
- Detail focused and ability to complete tasks on time and to budget
- Effective communication with colleagues and clients
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to seek new opportunities
