At the Government Communications Security Bureau (GCSB) | Te Tira Tiaki, our mission is to protect and enhance Aotearoa New Zealand's security and wellbeing. We provide Signals Intelligence and Cyber Security and resilience to organisations of national significance to successfully navigate in an unpredictable world.

About the role

The GCSB are looking for Intelligence Production Analysts to join our team. Foreign language skills from across the Indo-Pacific region, including Mandarin, would be advantageous.

This can be an entry level role into the Production Analyst career path, or an opportunity to broaden your existing intelligence analysis skills. With ongoing support and training, your primary role will be analysing information, often in a foreign language, then communicating it effectively to those with a need to know. You will operate with a significant degree of autonomy as you endeavour to satisfy New Zealand's intelligence needs, with the satisfaction of seeing tangible impact from your work.

This is a challenging and rewarding role and requires a willingness to develop and maintain a good working knowledge of information and communication technologies. You will also work with, and contribute to, a tight-knit team of dedicated professionals who are experts in topics that are of real interest to the New Zealand government.

Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
Strong research and analytical skills
Good general knowledge of, and an interest in international political, economic and security affairs

To be considered for this position you will need to be available to attend a full day Assessment Centre in central Wellington , on one of the following days:

Friday 17 th October
Monday 20 th October
Wednesday 22 nd October

Successful candidates will be required to start their careers with us in Wellington, but with the potential opportunity to relocate to Auckland in the future.

There will be two cohorts. Successful applicants will start with us either in early 2026 or mid 2026
All of our staff are required to have high-level security clearance to do the job. There is a rigorous vetting process to allow us to make a risk-based decision on your suitability to work in a Top Secret environment. Appointing range:
Level 1: $63,497 - $67,730
Level 2: $87,048 - $92,851
Level 3: $103,009 - $109,876

Working within our unique environment means we have to ensure you're eligible for employment.

You must:
Have been a New Zealand Citizen for at least 10 years

OR

Hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of the UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years
Be eligible to obtain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance
