About your team
The Strategy Implementation group is a small group with a broad skillset focused on supporting the organisation to embed the strategy and transition to the key shifts required. The group also leads WorkSafe's Health and Safety Reforms programme.
The group provides the systems and processes needed to implement, embed, and monitor WorkSafe's strategy and functional model.
We will also be looking to the future and positioning WorkSafe to build on the successes of the past, by navigating how we mature as an effective and trusted regulator under our strategy and functional model.
The Strategy Implementation group roles are fixed term and focused on supporting the delivery of the strategic health and safety work programme.
About the role
Reporting to the Director Strategy Implementation, the Programme Delivery Lead for Data and Digital will be responsible for the successful delivery of WorkSafe Mahi Haumaru's Health and Safety Reforms Programme, with a strong focus on data and digital enablers. This includes overseeing data deliverables that support the strategic direction of the reforms, as well as implementing digital solutions such as platform enhancements, AI tools, and website improvements. These components are critical to enabling the broader health and safety reform agenda.
The role will maintain a strong working relationship with both the data and insights team and the digital technology team and will manage key milestones and risks, ensuring alignment with business needs and the expectations outlined in WorkSafe Mahi Haumaru's Letter of Expectations.
The Programme Delivery Lead plays a critical role in maintaining delivery mechanisms to ensure consistent progress and successful outcomes.
The programme runs through to the end of 2026 and follows a hybrid-Agile delivery model.
This is a fixed term role until end of 2026 with a potential to extend based on the work plan.
What You'll Do
- You are Accountable for all aspects of programme management to ensure the successful delivery of the data and digital work plan, in close collaboration with WorkSafe's data and technology teams and will work closely with operational business leads and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery.
- Use established Agile practices-such as quarterly planning, fortnightly sprints, daily stand-ups, showcases, and governance reporting which are central to the programme's success.
- Proactively monitor progress to ensure work remains aligned with expectations and delivery plans, work with the appropriate teams to identify and manage risks and issues, including quarterly risk review sessions with the key stakeholders, risk review and discussion with the Sponsor and the Director Strategy Implementation.
- Identify where support is required, alongside overseeing quality control throughout the life cycle of delivery and manage adequate business transformation activities to ensure that any new policies or processes are successfully transitioned to business-as-usual processes
- Engage with stakeholders including the Executive Leadership team in relation to progressing the work programme to ensure the programme is delivered to planned outcomes and that stakeholders are informed and engaged.
What You'll Bring
- A minimum of seven years' operating in and leading programmes and projects in data and or digital, including in an Agile, hybrid-Agile or time-boxed waterfall approach.
- Experience in delivering change in a complex environment.
- Proven experience engaging and advising senior leaders or executives, including ensuring stakeholders are clear on respective roles and responsibilities, and negotiate timelines, resources, and budgets effectively.
- The ability to get up to speed with programmes already underway and deliver results at previously agreed milestones.
- Strong planning, communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills, alongside the ability to perform complex analysis and generate insights for business change.
- Understanding of government processes and experience applying a te ao Maori approach throughout programme delivery.
