Senior Geospatial Support Specialist
Are you passionate about geospatial technology and ready to take the lead in supporting and enhancing enterprise GIS platforms? We’re looking for a Senior Geospatial Application Support Specialist to join our team and play a key role in the administration and support of our GIS services.
About the role
As our Senior GIS Specialist, you will be part of a friendly team. We provide great customer service by understanding business requirements, performing advanced spatial data analysis, designing, and implementing solutions to address business needs. We love to collaborate and work closely with business stakeholders including architects, business customers, and vendors.
This is a dynamic role that blends technical expertise, user support, and strategic thinking to ensure our GIS platform is robust, scalable, and aligned with business needs.
This role will suit a team player who likes to take ownership of their work. enjoy implementing best practise processes and procedures and coaching others while continuing to develop their own knowledge.

What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience, with certification like Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Advanced knowledge of GIS platforms, spatial databases, integration, scripting tools and programming.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and communicate solutions clearly.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
- Your passion for mentoring and upskilling peers.
Proven experience in:
- GIS administration and support
- Scripting, App development
- Integration tools eg FME
- Managing a Versioned Enterprise Geodatabase and Relational Database
- SQL, VBA, Python, JSON, Java, Flex
- Map projection transformations, datum conversions, geo-coding, cartographic design and map production
- Project & Change Management
- Knowledge of the SAP Geographical Enablement Framework (GEF) is a bonus.
What You’ll Be Doing
GIS Services Enhancement
- Conduct use-case analysis to define GIS solution requirements
- Develop custom applications and workflows using scripting tools (e.g., Python)
- Workflow automation & integration using tools like FME or GEF
- Create custom map visualizations and spatial analysis tools
- Publish intuitive map layers with appropriate symbology and scale settings
BAU User Support
- Respond to service requests and incidents with efficiency
- Provide training, guidance, and alternative solutions to users & peers
- Maintain a knowledgebase of troubleshooting guides and lessons learned
- Support geospatial capabilities transitioned from project streams
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Resolve GIS platform and application issues
- Collaborate with IT to address enterprise GIS challenges
- Recommend fit-for-purpose platforms and datasets
Platform Administration & Technical Oversight
- Manage the ingestion, processing, and packaging of spatial and raster data
- Maintain geodatabase integrity, backups, and documentation
- Design and deliver geospatial products and solutions
- Administer user access, roles, licenses, and content security
- Monitor system performance and apply patches and updates
- Ensure seamless integration with enterprise systems
