Korero mo te turanga - About the role

Toitu Te Whenua is seeking a Senior Information Management Specialist to be an integral part of the Knowledge Management Team in Wellington.

We are looking for a passionate individual with ECM and M365 system administration and governance skills who can spearhead the development of our information governance approach while sustaining the great work of those who came before. This is a role that will provide a glimpse into the inner workings of an agency with an interesting and diverse portfolio. There will be a focus on working alongside internal customers to better understand what they are seeking to achieve and to guide them on that journey. You'll thrive on driving improvements in the governance of our M365 and Objective platforms to add value to all members of the LINZ whanau.


The role will involve:

  • Leading the delivery of information management governance improvements to M365 products, and working collaboratively with our Microsoft Azure cloud engineers to make it happen
  • Driving Information monitoring, auditing and reporting
  • Contributing to the administration of key systems (Objective ECM, Objective Connect and GOV365) and M365
  • Leading the governance of M365 and MS Teams (implementing governed provisioning, DLP, sensitivity labels etc)
  • Building internal & external relationships
  • Successfully representing and presenting Information Management and Information Governance concepts.
  • Leading and engaging your colleagues, drawing on and developing their areas of expertise to ensure that high-quality, consistent, and reliable information technology products and services are being delivered and are well-understood.
  • Leveraging and articulating an excellent working knowledge of the Public Records Act 2005 and Archives New Zealand regulatory requirements and guidance.

He pukenga tou - Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will have:

    • Experience of successfully working in information management roles within the NZ public service.
    • Administration experience with enabling tools like Objective ECM, Connect, and M365
    • Skills with leveraging management and governance tools such as Share Gate, Purview Portal, Teams Admin Centre etc.
    • Strong understanding of the implications of government policy and initiatives on records management including experience with the Public Records Act (2005), the Archives NZ Information & Records Management Standard (2016.
    • Expertise in the governance of enterprise content management (ECM) systems including engagement with technical providers and analytical skills to develop creative solutions within the information management framework.
    • Demonstrated ability to support and advise teams in the adoption and delivery, of information governance initiatives.
    • Excellent communication and organisation skills, including the ability to collaborate with staff at all levels across the institution as well as with external providers.
    • Ability to see the big picture, prioritise and apply a pragmatic approach to problem solving.
    • Be able to work collaboratively in a complex and changing environment.
    • A relevant tertiary qualification.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $120,000 to $140,000 based on skills and experience.
