This role is a fixed term position in response to increased demand within our high priority work programmes. We are surging in people and resources in response to these priorities and need a team leader to help our look after our kaimahi.

Mo te turanga mahi | About the role

This role sits in the Strategy, Stewardship & Performance (SSP) Group at the Ministry for the Environment. This Group uses data and evidence to inform policy, help advise ministers, set the Ministry's strategy to deliver on core priorities, and inform decision-making. Our integrated planning and programme delivery function helps the Ministry to prioritise its work then plan and deliver it.

This role will work closely with managers in the Strategy, Planning and Performance business unit to support continuous improvement to our high-performing programme and project management delivery function.

  • Experience coaching and developing kaimahi to deliver their work programmes and achieve desired outcomes
  • Experience managing people, finances, and resources (desirable)
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and to develop and maintain effective relationships
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at many levels
  • Ability to partner effectively with leaders, establishing credibility and relationships of influence
  • Experience and confidence in applying Te Ao Maori, te Tiriti principles and understanding the role of the Crown in relation to these
  • Proven ability to problem solve and deliver process efficiencies and continual improvement
  • An understanding of the machinery of government; government decision-making and operating procedures

Whanuitanga Utu a-Tau | Salary range

Salary range for this role is $118,318 to $143,695 pa. Appointment within this range will be based on skills and experience.
