Sitting within the Planning & Delivery Team of the Transport Unit, we drive the development of infrastructure to support Christchurch's transport requirements. This role will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver world class transport projects to the people of Christchurch.

We're looking for a seasoned programme leader to drive the successful delivery of our Transport Capital Programme—ensuring strategic benefits are realised and projects land on time, within scope, and on budget.
This role is central to shaping how transport projects come to life across the city. You'll navigate complex stakeholder landscapes - from elected members to consultants and the public - while fostering a high-performing, collaborative team culture. Your political nous and senior advisory skills will be key in steering high-interest projects with confidence and clarity.

You're an experienced programme or project delivery professional with a solid understanding of the transport environment - whether through infrastructure, planning, operations, or stakeholder engagement. You bring a calm, structured approach to managing complex programmes and thrive in environments where collaboration, clarity, and performance matter.

- Strong programme management expertise across scope, cost, risk, resource management, governance, and reporting
- A leadership style that builds a positive, collaborative, performance-driven team culture
- Experience working across diverse stakeholder groups, including consultants, contractors, technical teams, and the public

- Hours of work - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
- Position - Permanent
- Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street
- Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $126,230 to $140,255 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
