Warehouse & Supply Chain Coordinator

Monavale Blueberries Ltd
$24 - $30 an hour
New Zealand
Full time

We’re looking for an organised, hands-on, details-oriented person to coordinate and drive our warehouse, dispatch and fulfilment, stock management, processing production, and procurement operations.

As one of the most critical links in the business, you’ll be responsible for keeping track of our overall inventory across multiple product streams, and ensuring all customer orders are packed and dispatched appropriately, and efficiently.

You’ll be able to work independently, and take initiative as part of a small team. Working with the leadership team, you’ll be in a position of trust, and will train and look after production teams in processing and packaging according to our established procedures. You’ll also bring your own experience to help the business continuously improve and create a positive environment for staff.

As a certified organic food business, we are looking for a person who cares deeply about quality.

This is a full-time, permanent, Monday-to-Friday position (30-45 hours per week). However, flexible arrangements are negotiable for the right person.

Day-to-Day

Your day will have some consistent elements, and some variable depending on the business needs. Like many family businesses, we often share tasks and pitch in where help is needed. This is a diverse role which touches all parts of the business. The role has five main aspects, which help inform strategic business operations.

1. Warehouse and inventory coordination – what stock/resources do we have?

2. Quartermaster – what stock/resources do we need?

3. Production and processing coordination – make more stock

4. Procurement – buy more resources

5. Fulfilment and dispatch coordination – send out stock

Any typical day might include the following:

· Using our online systems, and communicate with marketing and accounts areas to review overnight orders from customers and ensure accurate and timely collation, packing, paperwork, and dispatch.

· Cultivating excellent relationships with external logistics and distribution/transport/courier staff, and with customers and internal teams.

· Assisting with truck scheduling and loading, temperature checks, and record-keeping.

· Timely production, packing, and packaging of goods, coordinating with suppliers and production staff.

· Manage your own time, and coordinate the warehouse space to maintain a tidy, safe, and efficient work environment.

· Plan and execute daily/weekly delivery schedules.

· Plan, coordinate, and conduct stocktakes and inventory reconciliations, and determine stock levels and procurement needs across the business.

· Contribute to leadership team planning and coordination

· Monitor and maintain stock levels to meet production and dispatch needs, and coordinate the procurement needs of other business teams (orchard, packhouse, café, administration, and support operations)

· Entering data accurately into spreadsheet records and other systems, requiring some desk time.

We expect that you will:

· Be proactive, take initiative, and have a positive attitude.

· Take your own safety, and that of others (including colleagues and visitors) very seriously.

· Represent our brand appropriately and with pride, as sometimes you’ll be the face of the business with external visitors, and also when training and leading staff teams.

· Uphold and model a high standard of personal integrity, in a position of trust and leadership.

· Act in alignment with our values of chemical-free, organic and healthy production.

· Have excellent written and oral communication skills.

· Contribute to a whole-of-business mindset by effectively managing resources and reducing waste.

· Be self-sufficient and able to work efficiently alone and keep motivated

· Be generally physically fit and able. You will need to be able to lift and carry moderately-heavy goods as a normal part of the job.

Overall, you’ll be responsible for:

· Leading and motivating production teams to meet targets when necessary.

· Learning how to safely and efficiently use a range of resources and equipment to achieve a high standard of product quality and presentation.

· Ensuring no part of the business runs out of supplies, and resources are strategically managed, prioritised, and available for operations, as part of general quartermaster duties.

· Ensure compliance and assurance with safety, quality control, transport, production regulations, and cool chain management.

You’ll be an ideal match if you can demonstrate:

· A passion for organic, biodynamic, and/or regenerative horticulture or business!

· A kind, friendly, can-do attitude.

· Experience in dispatch, logistics, stock control, or production management. Ideally you will have some coordination experience as well as delivering as part of a team.

· Take pride in attention to detail, while having an awareness of the big-picture factors that influence daily priorities.

· Familiarity with food safety and quality control standards, and an ability to keep good records on quality control and cool chain management.

· Strong leadership and assertive organisational skills.

· A coaching approach to leadership and working with people.

· Ability to work under pressure and make quick, effective decisions within a defined scope, while having good judgment in knowing when to escalate matters.

· Proficiency with scheduling tools, tracking systems and Microsoft Office.

· A commitment to quality, efficiency, and excellent customer service instincts.

· A current New Zealand driver licence.

· A current New Zealand forklift licence.

Please note, we are very strictly a non-smoking business, and prohibit smoking or vaping anywhere on the orchard and property.

Why join us?

· We are Australasia’s largest organic blueberry orchard. You’ll be helping put organic, healthy fruit on New Zealand family tables.

· Be a proactive leader, and take pride in, keeping our operations running smoothly

· Work in a supportive environment with opportunities for growth, training, and development pathways.

· Bring creative ideas as part of Monavale Blueberries’ next phase of growth after 40 years in business.
