Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting a permanent, full-time Kaitaupua Whaiwāhi Ako - Academic Inclusion Coordinator to join the Te Amaru - Disability Services team. This role ensures that Te Amaru - Disability Services can provide high quality academic inclusion services that assist students to obtain course information and to complete their assessment equitably. The Kaitaupua Whaiwāhi Ako - Academic Inclusion Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of academic inclusion staff to ensure quality and efficient services are provided for disabled students.
Currently our academic inclusion staff include Senior Academic Inclusion Assistants, Academic Inclusion Assistants and Sign Language Interpreters.
Key responsibilities:
- Recruit and select academic inclusion staff who have suitable skills and experience to provide a quality service for disabled students, in a timely manner.
- Ensure academic inclusion staff are provided with training for their role and given quality training material.
- Roster and allocate academic inclusion staff to tasks, taking into account student need, subject experience, and availability.
- Regularly monitor and continually improve the quality of the services academic inclusion staff are providing (including obtaining student feedback).
- Provide staff with feedback, support and problem solve issues as required.
- Provide students with confirmations of their support in a timely manner to give them confidence.
- Ensure academic inclusion staff feel part of the Te Amaru - Disability Services team through connection and engagement opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Commitment to application of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in an educational context.
- A University qualification or substantial knowledge and experience in the University environment.
- Proven experience in a coordination or administrative role.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to stay calm and focused in a fast paced environment.
- Proven experience in delivering excellent customer service.
- Computer experience in the Microsoft Office suite of applications and databases.
- Touch typing and a high data entry rate.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Proven positive interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience in delivering high quality training.
